Good Faith Estimate

Your Right to Receive a Good Faith Estimate

Under the law, health care providers are required to provide individuals who are not using insurance or who are choosing not to use insurance with an estimate of expected charges for medical and mental health services.

At Evans Counseling Group, we believe in transparency around the cost of care and want you to feel informed as you begin services.

What Is a Good Faith Estimate?

A Good Faith Estimate outlines the expected cost of therapy services based on the information known at the time it is created. It helps you understand the anticipated cost of care before beginning treatment.

The estimate will include:

  • The expected cost of therapy sessions

  • Any additional fees related to services

  • Information about the frequency of sessions, when applicable

Please note that the actual cost of services may vary depending on your treatment needs, length of care, and any changes made to your treatment plan.

Who Can Request One?

You have the right to request a Good Faith Estimate if:

  • You are not using insurance to pay for services

  • You are choosing to pay out-of-pocket

  • You are uninsured or self-pay

You can request a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling services or at any point during treatment.

Dispute Resolution

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the bill through the federal patient-provider dispute resolution process.

For more information, visit the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services website.
